Three rooms, three musical identities and one of Peterborough's most storied entertainment addresses. Embassy, Flares and Red Room brings contemporary nightlife into the former theatre where The Beatles and The Rolling Stones once performed.
The Embassy Theatre opened on 1 November 1937 with the musical comedy 1066 and All That. Designed by noted cinema architect David Evelyn Nye, the Art Deco venue originally held almost 1,500 people across its stalls and steeply raked circle.
Its stage welcomed some of the biggest names in twentieth-century entertainment, including Laurel and Hardy, George Formby and Ivor Novello. The Beatles appeared here twice, in December 1962 and March 1963, while The Rolling Stones also performed within the building.
The Embassy later became a cinema, operating under the ABC and Cannon names before closing in 1989. Nightlife returned to the premises during the 1990s, and the building has continued entertaining Peterborough audiences in a very different form ever since.
Today, the venue is divided into three complementary spaces. Embassy provides the main bar and a flexible place to begin the evening; Flares fills its dancefloor with familiar hits from across the decades; and Red Room brings R&B, hip hop, house and live appearances to the glamorous former stage room.
That combination is what gives the venue its enduring appeal. A group does not have to agree on a single soundtrack before going out: visitors can move between different rooms and atmospheres while remaining under the same historic roof.

R&B, hip hop, house and bass-led club music inside the glamorous room created around the Embassy Theatre's original stage.

Guest DJs, touring artists, themed parties and live appearances add variety to the regular weekly club programme.

Tables, drinks packages and group bookings are available for birthdays, hen and stag parties and other special occasions.

- Admission prices vary by night. Some special events require advance tickets, while tables and drinks packages can be pre-booked.

- Nightclub events are normally for guests aged 18 and over. Bring valid physical photographic identification and check the conditions for your event.
- Dress code
- A dress code is in operation. Check current guidance before travelling, particularly if you are unsure about footwear or sportswear.
- Last entry
- Last-entry times vary by event and ticket type. Some regular nights list last admission at 3.30am, but always check your booking.
- By train
- Peterborough railway station is approximately 10–15 minutes away on foot through the central shopping area.
- By bus
- Queensgate bus station is around ten minutes away on foot. Central taxi ranks and private-hire services are also nearby.
- Parking
- No dedicated venue car park is advertised. Public and private parking is available nearby, including around Brook Street and Northminster.
- Access
- The main Embassy space is ground-floor and listed as wheelchair-accessible, with an accessible toilet. Access to every room may differ, so contact the venue before booking.
- Guest safety
- Ask Angela operates at the venue. Drink covers are available, and Guest Support colleagues wearing neon armbands can provide assistance.
