More than a games shop and far bigger than a café, Angle has built a genuine home for Peterborough's gaming community. Hundreds of board games, four escape rooms, axe throwing and the city's only public indoor bouldering wall all sit under one roof.
A good gaming venue does not simply provide tables. It gives people somewhere to belong, introduces newcomers to a hobby and lets established communities grow. That is what makes Angle Gaming Peterborough important: it has turned a large Lincoln Road building into one of the city's liveliest modern meeting places.
A £5 wristband opens the gaming lounge for the whole day — up to 14 hours when opening times allow. Visitors can choose from hundreds of board games, use the Xbox stations or settle at dedicated Warhammer and tabletop-wargaming tables, complete with terrain. You can also bring a painting project, book or craft and simply share the space.
The programme is as significant as the shelves. Regular tournaments cover games including Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana, One Piece and Star Wars Unlimited. The weekly RPG night brings together more than 100 players for Dungeons & Dragons and other systems, while beginners are actively encouraged to join and learn.
Beyond the lounge are four escape rooms designed and constructed in-house, Peterborough's first dedicated axe-throwing range and its only public indoor bouldering wall. Together they give the city an unusually broad all-weather venue for active competition, puzzles and shared play. See more ideas in Sports & Active Leisure and Family Fun.
Angle is alcohol-free and family-friendly throughout, allowing children, parents, grandparents and adult gaming groups to use the same venue comfortably. Its Living Wage accreditation, beginner-friendly events and work-experience opportunities also reveal something deeper: this is a local business investing in the community around it.
