The Green Backyard is a vibrant community growing project and green space on Oundle Road, just across from Peterborough’s Embankment. Run by volunteers, it’s open to everyone as a place to connect with nature, learn about sustainable living, and enjoy a peaceful environment in the heart of the city.

Visitors can explore vegetable plots, fruit trees, wildlife habitats, and creative garden features, or take part in seasonal events, workshops, and family activities. There’s a small shop selling plants, produce, and handmade goods, and the garden regularly hosts craft markets, live music, and community celebrations.

A welcoming and inspiring example of grassroots urban regeneration, The Green Backyard turns a once-derelict space into a thriving, nature-rich destination for locals and visitors alike.
