Independent Destination Management Organisation Proposal

This proposal responds to the closure of the old Visit Peterborough platform and the council’s retreat from tourism delivery by putting forward an independent, accredited DMO. The organisation would unite cultural, business, and community partners to manage Peterborough as a destination, with the aim of achieving LVEP accreditation within three years. It sets strategic goals including increasing visitor spend, extending stays, and building a year-round events economy, while embedding data-led planning and independent governance. Its framework places strong emphasis on collaboration, identity-building, and sustainable growth

Peterborough Destination Identity & Place Profiles Proposal

This proposal sets out a layered framework for shaping Peterborough’s identity as a connected and diverse destination. It defines three tiers: the Inner City Quarters (Cathedral, Creative, River & Rail, and Old Town), the Middle Quarters (a ring of historic and diverse neighbourhoods), and the wider Heritage Landscapes (Fen Edge, Clare Country, Nene Reaches, and the emerging Kiln Quarter). Together, these layers link the city’s heritage, culture, communities, and landscapes into one coherent narrative, designed to support tourism growth, civic pride, and place-making.

Cargo Hold Proposal (Supporting the DMO)

The Cargo Hold is a pioneering cultural hub that unites sci-fi props, model-making, and creative craftsmanship within a dynamic city-centre setting. Functioning as both an immersive attraction and a city box office, it bridges fandom with heritage and provides visitors with direct access to Peterborough’s wider cultural offer. By driving footfall, cross-promotion, and revenue reinvestment, the Cargo Hold strengthens the city’s visitor economy and creates a flagship partnership model. In doing so, it directly supports the independent Destination Management Organisation by showcasing joined-up storytelling, stimulating collaboration, and helping position Peterborough as a vibrant, connected, and distinctive destination.

This is Peterborough! Festival Brochure

The festival brochure introduces a new annual city-wide celebration of Peterborough’s culture, creativity, and communities. It positions the festival as a flagship event that reflects the city’s layered history and vibrant present, combining heritage trails, arts and music performances, family activities, and community-led programming. The brochure highlights over 40 partner organisations already committed, stressing inclusivity and pride in place. The festival is framed not just as a cultural event, but as a catalyst for tourism, identity-building, and future growth across the city .
